Detailed Review
Lizmap keeps the authoring in QGIS. You style layers and configure forms in the desktop project, then Lizmap and QGIS Server render it as a web application, with no separate map design step.
3Liz states that it began developing Lizmap as open source in 2011 and has offered a hosting service bundling Lizmap, QGIS Server and PostgreSQL/PostGIS since 2016.
Managed hosting in France
Lizmap Cloud runs on servers rented from OVH in France, with a daily database and file backup kept at least seven days in a different city. A project validator inspects your QGIS projects and reports memory use, invalid layers and missing files.
A dedicated server can be placed in another country.
Three entry-level plans
Starter is €50 per month excluding tax, with one instance and 200 MB of storage. Starter+ is €75 with 2 GB, and the Basic plan, with a PostgreSQL/PostGIS database for editing, starts at €90. Activation costs €0 on the two smallest plans.
The pages list current versions, among them Lizmap Web Client 3.9 and QGIS Server 3.44.
Privacy statement
3Liz states that neither its site nor Lizmap instances use trackers or advertising, and that personal data is stored only for invoicing.
Limitations to Consider
Lizmap depends on QGIS for authoring, so it is not a standalone GIS. The pages on lizmap.com are in English and French, and the entry plans have small storage (200 MB or 2 GB). Business modules such as SAML are optional extras, not part of the Starter plan. The company is small compared with Esri.
Who Should Use Lizmap
Municipalities, consultancies and associations whose staff work in QGIS and want a hosted, French-run way to share maps.
