Detailed Review
Awero is the new brand of Badgecraft, a platform to create, issue and manage digital badges in line with the Open Badges standard. The terms of use name Awero, VšĮ, code 302534319, with an address at Šeimyniškių g. 22C-1 in Vilnius, and they are governed by the laws of Lithuania.
The site badgecraft.eu still carries the old name next to a notice that Badgecraft is transitioning to Awero. The about page says the team has facilitated learning for 15 years and found Mozilla Open Badges in 2011.
Awero issuer plans and prices
Awero lists a free Personal issuer plan with up to 100 badges, 100 people and 10 activities. Starting issuer costs €110 a year, Advanced issuer €550 and Institution issuer €950.
Institution issuer allows unlimited badges and up to 5,000 people. Awero asks organisations with more than 5,000 users, or those that want API integrations, to contact info@awero.org.
Quests, evidence and recognition systems in Awero
Awero supports badge quests where earners complete activities and upload evidence in several formats. The home page also describes recognition pathways with levels and milestones and progress tracking.
A free Badge Wallet app for earners is part of every plan on the pricing table.
Awero as a European alternative to Credly
Awero offers public prices and a free tier, and its contracting entity is in Lithuania. Awero is designed around learning programmes, so it does not describe workforce analytics or an employer network.
The interface languages listed include English, Lithuanian, German, Estonian, Spanish, Dutch, French and many more.
Limitations to Consider
Awero is registered as a VšĮ with a rebrand still in progress, so documents, URLs and legal texts mix the names Badgecraft and Awero. Technical support is paid on the free plan and the API needs a separate agreement. The pages we read do not state a hosting location.
Who Should Use Awero (Badgecraft)
Youth organisations, schools and city or region learning programmes that want badge quests in many languages at low yearly cost.
