Where Deezer and Qobuz differ
Across the six points below, Deezer has the edge on 2 points, Qobuz on 2 points and 2 are a tie. A count like that is a summary, not a verdict: the point that matters to you may be the one the other product wins.
Top audio quality
Qobuz states that every Studio streaming plan delivers lossless FLAC up to 24-bit and 192 kHz, from a catalogue of over 100 million tracks. Deezer HiFi streams lossless CD-quality FLAC to paid users from around 90 million tracks, according to its HiFi page, with no Hi-Res tier mentioned. Qobuz goes higher.
Edge: Qobuz
Monthly price
Deezer's offer page showed Premium at €11,99 a month, €9,00 a month billed yearly (€107,99), and Student at €5,99. Qobuz's French and Dutch pages showed Studio from €12,49 and €13,50 a month, with Sublime from €16,66. Prices vary by country and by billing period, so check your own storefront; on the pages we read, Deezer was lower.
Edge: Deezer
Paying artists
Deezer describes its Artist-Centric Payment System: boosts for searched-for songs and for artists with 500 unique listeners, and a cap of 1,000 counted streams per user a month. Qobuz says it is the only platform that publishes its average pay per stream. One explains a model, the other discloses a number; neither claim was independently checked.
No clear winner on this point.
Buying and owning music
Qobuz runs a download store where albums are bought in CD or Hi-Res quality and kept permanently, and its Sublime plan adds discounts of up to 60% on Hi-Res purchases. Deezer's pages list streaming offers, gift cards and offline mode, but no store. Anyone who wants files they own should look at Qobuz.
Edge: Qobuz
Discovery and extras
Deezer lists Flow, the Shaker collaborative playlist, synchronized lyrics, a music quiz, a song identifier and AI-generated music labelling. Qobuz leans on human editorial: Panoramas, weekly reviews, interviews and a hardware Testing Ground. Deezer has more app features; Qobuz has more reading material.
Edge: Deezer
